Thoughts/Quotes

Quote #1

All of us are learners at different stages of our very own lives...and with totally different circumstances and experiences to offer. Some have crossed the pathway, some have yet to cross the pathway. No two lives are the same, no two experiences whether recent or past are the same and no one in this journey of life is an expert."

"In short, we are all constantly learning and evolving in this journey of life."

Quote #2

"Good days and bad days form a part of who we truly are, in particular our existence. If it were not for the bad days, we wouldn't be who we are today and if it were not for the good days, we wouldn't be reminded of the great things we have achieved/accomplished, more importantly the struggles and obstacles that once defined our lives, but now lay as yet another chapter of a book called life!"

Quote #3

"Every single being and individual on this planet is by default born with a potential and a purpose that remains hidden or frozen. It is only by tapping into it or unlocking it, do we start to discover the true meaning and essence of our lives thereafter."

Quote #4

"The way a person thinks about you/perceives you/formulates an opinion about you does not necessarily give you a vivid picture of who you truly are. To quite the opposite note, it does paint a picture of who they truly are, including their perceptions and opinions, shaped by their experiences and circumstances to help arrive at that particular opinion/perception that has been formulated about you."

Quote #3

"Beyond all possible bias, beyond all stereotyping and finally beyond the very boundaries and crevices of our hardened identities, lies an infinite reality yet to be discovered and explored, currently buried deep in what constitutes a 'utopia' of the present-day contemporary world we live in"

Quote #4

"We are born to discover our true potential and in the process, harbour meaning and realism in how we look and perceive life and the things around us"

The Pulao in the Making

It was a Sunday afternoon of another weekend in Goa. Coming home from the long ardous journey, I spent a few minutes sifting through the pages of the local daily.  All of a sudden, I was taken aback by the sumptuous aroma of a Goan dish that filled the entire household as my mum set off to prepare it as part of a huge spread for the feast day. I have no words to describe my love and fascination towards this dish that I now proudly consider on such days as T.G.I.P.D - Thank God It's Pulao Days. With its strong aroma - a culmination of the spices of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves - 'pulao' is but one of the dishes that has grown to occupy a prominence in many Goan households on feast days. Driven by the aroma it brings in, everytime my mum has prepared it, I also drew a liking towards this delicacy. After a lot of convincing with my grandmother, I was finally granted my spot in the vast expansive kitchen. As it is customary in most households, men are not accustomed to be in the...

The Arrival Of The Monsoon King

It has suddenly turned dark. The skies have turned dull and the trees with their lofty branches and extended family sway as the wind keeps passing on and off, a signal of a forthcoming storm soon to overtake the surrounding area. The birds stop chirping, the rooster stops crowing in attempts to safeguard and protect itself as the rain rambles it’s way through the hills, all the way to the trees and forests of the low-lying areas. A sudden strike of thunder, followed by the lashing rain and behold…..the monsoon king as he prepares to lay siege over the village, part by part, lane by lane. With great joy and exuberance, he marches around the whole sky, celebrating the victories that he has achieved over the past weeks and months, enough for him to survive the remaining months he has got before he can be finally dethroned by the Winter King.   The farmers in their fields rejoice with glee on his arrival, a plentiful harvest to satisfy themselves and their families thereupon, the ...

Musandam Changed Me.

How many of you have ever been on an adventure that completely changed the your view towards life? One moment, you’re having fun, and the next, you’re questioning everything. That’s exactly what happened to me two years ago on a trip to Musandam.  It was one of those great moments – calm waters, blue skies and excitement of trying something new. One of the activities was the banana boat ride. Now, if you haven’t tried it before, it’s exactly what it sounds like—a banana-shaped boat tied to a speedboat that drags you across the water at high speed… until it flips, sending everyone crashing into the sea. I was excited. I had never done something this adventurous before. The ride started, and within minutes, we were flying across the waves. The boat sailed for a span of 15 to 20 minutes in high speed, when all of sudden – Swooooooooshhhhhh! The rope tied to the banana boat was left lose. I clung to my life jacket as if it were the only thing  keeping me alive, my fingers...
