Evening of another Friday...

It’s another bright and beautiful Friday evening, and behold the sun, with it’s bright and boundless glory, magnifies the skies with it’s bright and everlasting rays touching upon each and every single life-form and creature on this earth.

With birds tweeting as they prepare to make their way into their nests, with flowers almost drooping as they prepare themselves for the arrival of night time and with mosquitos buzzing around as they prepare for their feast before sunset, it is indeed a beautiful sight to behold!!!

A slight trail of wind meanders it’s way through the tall and wavy coconut trees, filled with a lump sum of coconuts to declare as pride for having made it so far as achieving greatness in their lifetime, the dogs barking as they prepare to head back on their usual duty as guardians of the night and finally the unexpected sound of one of a whole lot of young middle school children playing endlessly till the arrival of Angelus time signified by the tolling of the bell followed by the sudden anxious voices and rush of all creatures, to their homes aroused with the fear in them that they need to make it to their homes on time as the night time has just arrived!!!

Nevertheless, it was a really beautiful and a breath-taking scene, a scene that one must just for once, leave aside all their usual chores and just sit-back and watch how the beautiful evening has created a truly memorable and a cherishable scene to highlight the day that has just passed by and end it with great hopes and optimism for a better one!!!!

Overcoming the Mental Block

Fifteen years ago, I was asked by my school teacher to give a 1-minute speech for the English class. Those days, it felt terrifying to be called upon in-front of the class to deliver such speech. The topic was about myself – more or less like the ice-breakers we deliver here at the Toastmasters. Being in a school and the ‘studious environment’, I worked with my mother to put together a short speech about myself just to accommodate in for the 1 minute that was allotted to me. I was called upon by the English teacher to deliver the speech in front of the class. As soon as I came on stage to recite my speech, my mind started to freeze. I felt like things were just blanking out for no fault of my own. As I started to speak about myself – in that fit of nervousness, I forgot what I had to say next. I was perplexed and confused on how to handle the situation. At that moment, when I had forgotten the rest of my speech, I stood there saying….Um…Eh very loudly not knowing what to say next. And...

The Pulao in the Making

It was a Sunday afternoon of another weekend in Goa. Coming home from the long ardous journey, I spent a few minutes sifting through the pages of the local daily.  All of a sudden, I was taken aback by the sumptuous aroma of a Goan dish that filled the entire household as my mum set off to prepare it as part of a huge spread for the feast day. I have no words to describe my love and fascination towards this dish that I now proudly consider on such days as T.G.I.P.D - Thank God It's Pulao Days. With its strong aroma - a culmination of the spices of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves - 'pulao' is but one of the dishes that has grown to occupy a prominence in many Goan households on feast days. Driven by the aroma it brings in, everytime my mum has prepared it, I also drew a liking towards this delicacy. After a lot of convincing with my grandmother, I was finally granted my spot in the vast expansive kitchen. As it is customary in most households, men are not accustomed to be in the...

The True Meaning of Change....

As a preface to this blog article, before you start reading and getting to know the purpose of what I have to share as I write this post, this post is like an auto-biographical account into how I went through the struggles that I had to undergo when coming to Goa, and how did I personally overcome all the challenges that it took for me to adjust to the place and of course the people all around. I do hope that you are left with some great insights that can be an inspiration to yourself and the people all around, and I also wish that you are left with a message that forms the cornerstone of who you are, as well as your existence.... Change. This was a word, which I really struggled to come to terms with myself and how I would go about with my day to day life. It is something that I really feared right from the time I was born, I attended school, spent all my life in UAE, and then moved to Goa for my higher studies. All through my life, I had gone through a lot of instances and situations...
