Life On A Laptop Screen....

A new day has dawned. A string of endless WhatsApp notifications is what fills the entire place, as I lay patiently waiting for the professor to send the Google Meet link in order to begin the class. And as I lay patiently in anticipation for the link, a thunderclap of voices fill my head as I try to keep my composure in order to set myself up well for the day..... As the meeting begins, a feel of loneliness, a feel of disconnect clouds my mind as I try to convince myself and make myself feel that I have occupied a virtual seat in the class. A lot of people who are now just mere profile pictures on the screen, the convenience of messaging on chat boxes and the prolonged silence in a virtual atmosphere as the professor starts the lecture brings in a feeling of desolateness and anxiety as I try and adjust to this so-called 'new format' of classes. Professors have turned into mere podcasters as they try to expend their knowledge with the rest of us on call, the frequent occurrence...

Rediscovering 'The Perceptionist'

Greetings to all of you my subscribers, as well as those who check my page on and off for any updates as well as whenever I do have anything new to post. It has been a while since I've actually posted something new on this page. This is a post which is slightly different from the posts that usually come off from this blog. It is more about 'Rediscovering The Perceptionist' and what I stand for through my blog posts. I do hope to make these minutes you spend reading my blog worthwhile while you take the time to get to know more about the thinking behind these blogs as well as the person behind it. For those of you who are curious to know the 'writer in the making', I'm a young and a passionate teenager currently in my final years of pursuing a business degree in Travel and Tourism in one of the colleges in Goa. For a pretty long time, there has always been a voice from within me, that yearned to be heard and was always buried in the depths of my heart for years...

The Arrival Of The Monsoon King

It has suddenly turned dark. The skies have turned dull and the trees with their lofty branches and extended family sway as the wind keeps passing on and off, a signal of a forthcoming storm soon to overtake the surrounding area. The birds stop chirping, the rooster stops crowing in attempts to safeguard and protect itself as the rain rambles it’s way through the hills, all the way to the trees and forests of the low-lying areas. A sudden strike of thunder, followed by the lashing rain and behold…..the monsoon king as he prepares to lay siege over the village, part by part, lane by lane. With great joy and exuberance, he marches around the whole sky, celebrating the victories that he has achieved over the past weeks and months, enough for him to survive the remaining months he has got before he can be finally dethroned by the Winter King.   The farmers in their fields rejoice with glee on his arrival, a plentiful harvest to satisfy themselves and their families thereupon, the ...

Emotional Conflicts and Mental Well-Being In The Midst Of These Trying Times......

It is a quiet and dark evening as usual. The sound of the night insects make it seem even more spookier as the sun has bid it’s farewell for the day and the whole village lay quiet and peaceful with the occasional sounds of cars whizzing past on and off. In the midst of this peace and solitude lies a soul, who is by all means trying to find his position to fit in the really trying and almost gruesome times created by the ongoing pandemic. The pandemic has indeed forced us all to take the refuge of our homes as we try to grapple with many incessant problems and also the many uncertain questions we keep pondering ourselves over. There is a looming uncertainty over what the future really holds for us, be it in our jobs, in our workplaces, in our school and colleges, the constant nagging doubt of where we are heading ourselves to or rather what the future really holds for us and our lives. In the midst of this constant doubt and pondering over, there is a deep emotional conflict or bat...

Standing in the Garden

There standing in the garden,   lay a small plant taking the shape of what looks like almost a palm tree with wide flappy-like leaves which flap themselves as the breeze passes to and fro. Shaded with a whole array of branches of our ancestral mango tree whose fruits we cherish to the fullest, it looks more like a canopy or a gazebo with a few potted plants surrounding it in the form of a circle, and what appear to be a smaller version of the bushes we have in our garden that border this gazebo, with triangular bricks which could make for a small mini-forest, had there been many more varieties of plants in the same area itself. The fruits of the palm like plant that make for the gazebo hang from the branches, a cluster of small orange berry like fruits which fill me with wonder and imagination of the name people have given this plant as well as what the taste of them must be, as I’m just filled with curiosity of the bunch full of berries that this plant has been endowe...

A Lonesome Bird On Trees.......

It’s one beautiful Friday evening and behold a cluster of birds making very distinct noises in and around the village. One of them stands out there very distinctly on a far but nearby branch of one of the worn out trees. It stands still waiting for it’s partner who may have gone on a wild goose chase in search of food to survive them both for the night that is soon to come. As it looks around, it finds so many neighboring birds in it’s vicinity. Some of which belong to it’s tribe just like itself while some that belong to other tribes, all preparing themselves for the night that is soon to unfold. They can be heard beautifully chirping to each other as a way of conveying important messages to members of their tribes. A feel of great joy and happiness can be heard from within the depths of their hearts as they are finally able to discover all their near and dear relatives and friends having been separated for years and for generations of persecution from their fello...

In The Midst of Suffering Stands A Greater Hope.....

The night has just unfolded, and behold the skies filled with stars shining in their greatest volume, bringing light to the living beings below it at distances from their splendour. They shine brightly in their entirety as they make way to conquer the world with the light that it deserves at this point in time.   As darkness now envelops the world, as nations join hands together to fight the spread of the disease, and as people take refuge in their shelters, a greater understanding of humanity has now dissolved into the hearts and minds of people.  A humanity that knows no bounds, a humanity where we are all brothers and sisters united in diversity, a humanity where there exists no differences between ourselves and our fellow neighbors, a humanity where we learn to respect each other’s personal opinions about life and finally a humanity which is filled with boundless love for one another transcending all social and cultural barriers, paving the way for a greater ...
